Re: Motors only vibrate but will not turn

Hello, it is .9deg Nema 23 Stepper Bipolar 2.8A 1.26Nm if not A4988 then will DRV8825 Driver be helpful as without cooling it can provide 1.5 A per coil and could be used to a maximum current to 2.2...

NEW!? S109 (Toshiba TB67S109) Stepper Drivers??

has anyone used these S109 / Toshiba TB67S109 Stepper Driver Modules? [www.aliexpress.com] The closest thing I could find was the TB6600 industrial driver modules... this is a 4A!!! onboard/polulu...

Re: NEW!? S109 (Toshiba TB67S109) Stepper Drivers??

At 50V max. you sure want to separate Ramps and the Vmot pins. They are dirt cheap, but 1/32 still can be noisy with NEMA23. I prefer the 16/256 interpolation of DuetWifis drivers. ( I'm spoiled, I...

Motor stops working after a few minutes

After a few minutes of printing or movement one of my Z axis motor stops moving. Then I switched off the supply and after waiting a few minutes I again tried moving the motor. It works for a few...

Re: Motor stops working after a few minutes

Probably something is overheating. Check the temperature of the driver chip; you may need to add a heatsink and/or cooling fan. Also check the temperature of the motor itself; it shouldn't be too hot...

motor AK17/1.10F6LN1.8 too weak?

the motor i have is the AK17/1.10F6LN1.8, using Marlin i can only move then if they have no load and under a feed rate of 5 even when the driver is giving MAX amps to the motor, i did check if the...

Re: motor AK17/1.10F6LN1.8 too weak?

Those motors are not at all suitable for use in 3D printers with any of the standard drivers. They have less than half the torque of typical motors used in 3D printers, but the bigger pronlem is that...

what wold be a good inductance and resistance value? edit: is it good enough for the filament drive?

Re: motor AK17/1.10F6LN1.8 too weak?

Look for voltage per phase no greater than 4V, inductance per phase no greater than 5mH, and if you are using plug-in drivers then rated current per phase no greater than 1.7A.Holding torque of 25Ncm...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

It seems, the inductance in full torque config ( 2.1A/1.9Nm ) is to high for 24V. The torque drops pretty fast at higher RPM . I made some travel speed tests and with a pulley gear ratio of 3:1 max...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

If this specification is correct: 23HS8630%20%20_zpspwayf2lq.jpg then, relating it to the data in your earlier post, the inductance is 1.6mH for half a phase so it will be 6.4mH for a full phase. You...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

Thanks David for the link. It seems our datas are mixed up...holding torque in 3A-config should be 1.35Nm or do they run the stepper at 3A with full phase? I'll do the math with your formulas,...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

Actually the calcs work out better for loaded scenarios, because the back emf due to rotation then lags the back emf due to inductance, reducing the total drive voltage needed. So you can take the...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

Yes, that explains why I got lower rev/s values at higher motor current ( read required current ) I revers calculated max. rev/s at 24V and got ~4 rev/s for the 6.4mH@2A_1.9Nm wiring * ~7.3rev/s for...

Re: 6-lead steppers: lower current = more torque?:S

My formula estimates the voltage you need to maintain full torque at a given speed. But motors in 3D printers generally produce much more torque than you need to produce motion. The greater the excess...

What are your steps/mm? One possible explanation is that you are using 8-bit electronics and firmware that has to use double stepping to achieve 60mm/sec speed. Double stepping will mess up the...
