Auto bed leveling servo issue
Hi all I have a prusa i3 and recently i tried to add autobed leveling option... Printed my parts ... Scavaged electronics and put all togheder but 2 issues And if you please help me 1. If everything...

I can't make out much from your recording, but kudos for trying it! Is this something that was working and then failed, or are you trying to get it working for the first time? When steppers don't turn...

Hello, I've purchased two TMC2100 steppers from amazon (Ihttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I4JCABA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I've enabled spreadcycle on the two TMC2100's I...

I finally went ahead and did it. I forced my DRV8825 drivers into fast decay mode. I've been thinking of doing this for a while. I tried the whole freewheeling diode thing (made things worse). After...

Does that also work with the "normal" version of the drv8825 drivers, where the chip is on top of the PCB? Where did you get yours from? I ran my delta with modded drv's and they only got loud while...

Hi In an attempt to get smoother surfaces and less noise from my Folgertech FT-5 (MKS Gen 1.4, Cartesian with two steppers for Y axis) I have replaced the stepper controllers with TMC2100. This take...
View ArticleRe: Microstepping and parallel steppers skipping (tmc2100)
What is the specification of your motors? For most motors used in 3D printers, it is better to connect two motors in series instead of in parallel. Then turn down the motor current to be the same as...
View ArticleRe: Microstepping and parallel steppers skipping (tmc2100)
Thank you for the reply, the Y steppers are in fact in series (I got it wrong), the Z steppers that are in parallel (they work fine enough without micro stepping) As for specs they are NEMA 17 1.8...

Reducing microstepping won't improve the torque. Are the drivers getting hot? If so then you may need to cool them with a fan. Don't assume that the voltage settings you used on the A4988 drivers give...
View ArticleRe: Microstepping and steppers in serie skipping (tmc2100)
You could have a similar issue as the DRV8825 drivers. Due to the nature of their operation, and how 3D printers actually run, the microstepping is actually causing problems. How accurately do think...

@MrBaz "1:256 microstepping is just WAY too much for an 8 bit AVR to process." agreed if it was really doing that The TMC2100 input is still full step, 1/2 step, 1/4 step or 1/16 micro stepping...

Unfortunately MKS missed one bridge on the TMC2100. So the driver are never in spread cycle and will miss steps very easily. It is a very small pad near the enable pin.

Most of the stepper motors we use for our machines are rated for low motor voltage (2-5v). However, most electronics seem to use high-voltage versions of the stepper drivers. For example the popular...

Why would you use a 10.8V driver in a 12V or 24V system? You'd have to provide a source of <10.8V to use it. Motors display higher torque at speed when they are powered by high voltage supplies (up...

Ok, so the driver's voltage rating is referring to the incoming voltage and not the output motor voltage?

I use Stepper Motor - 68 oz.in (400 steps/rev). I heard half-stepping options. Motors work quieter with half-stepping. How to change full stepping to half stepping?

The stepper driver are working with constant current. The ratings on the motor is for constant voltage.

@dc42 They don't get hot, but then it didn't run particularly fast either, with 60mm/s print speed and 150mm/s motion. Thanks for the mention about the Apmerage, I will check. @MrBaz Yes 24V would...
